Description

Ten shillings, Armitage/McFarlane (1942) F/39 368167 (R.13), WWII signed 'short snorter' with eleven signatures on front, one of which is by famous American baseball player, Johnny Mize, and as a wartime service signature scarce. Taped at side edges, nicks along top and bottom edges, fine.

Johnny Mize, nicknamed 'The Big Cat' because of his size, was a first baseman for the St Louis Cardinals, New York Giants and New York Yankees in a career spanning fifteen years between 1936 and 1953. He was a recipient of the Babe Ruth Award in 1952 and inducted into the baseball Hall of Fame in 1981. He served during WWII from 1943 through to 1945. With research.
