Cn. Lentulus, (c.76-75 B.C.), silver denarius, probably a Spanish mint, (3.77 grams), obv. Genius of the Roman People with diadem, draped head to right, sceptre on shoulder and G.P.R. above, rev. EX S[C] divided by globe between rudder and sceptre, CN. LEN. Q below, (S.324, Cr.393/1c, Syd.752, B.Cornelia 54). Nicely toned with golden highlights, slightly off centre on reverse, otherwise nearly extremely fine and and very scarce.
Ex Spink & Son with ticket. This coin was struck when Lentulus was acting as paymaster to Pompey's troops in Spain.
