Q. Caecilius Metellus Pius (as Imperator), c.81 B.C., silver denarius, North Italy mint, (3.85 grams), obv. Pietas diademed head to right, stork before, rev. elephant walking to left, Q.C.M.P.I. in exergue, (S.301, Cr.374/1, Syd.750, RSC Caecilia 43). Toned, nearly extremely fine and rare in this condition.
