Peloponnesos, Sikyonia, Sikyon, (c.450-425 B.C.), silver hemidrachm (2.730 grams), obv. Chimaera walking left, rev. dove flying right with wings open above and below, above right, inverted **S*, all within incuse square, (S.2760 [£150]. BCD 163 [noted as extremely rare], BMC 3-4. SNG Cop 21 [= Trait‚ 739, Pl.CCXIX, 16]. Warren 2000, 3). Fine/good fine lightly toned and extremely rare.
Ex BCD Collection with ticket. Sikyon’s coinage of the 3rd quarter of the 5th century is quite complex. Denominationally marked silver appears but is overlapped by unmarked silver drachms of the earlier type.
