Constantine V, (741-775 A.D.), gold tremissis, Syracuse mint, (1.27 grams), obv. crowned, draped and cuirassed bust of Constantine facing, holding cross potent, around [CONSTAN], rev. crowned, draped and cuirassed bust of Leo III facing, wearing short beard, holding cross potent, holding globus cruciger and akakia, around [D.N.LEON P. A. M], (cf.S.1567, DOC 17, BMC -, T.-, R.1740). Clipped edge, otherwise very fine and rare.
