Description

Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor, fold over letter document (30.4cm x 22.2cm) on watermarked paper, with impressed arms seal at opening, written in Latin, to Fernando de Gonzaga, governor of the State of Milan, dated 8 August 1548 and signed by Carolus (Charles V), together with small colour photo of Charles V. Some small holes and light paper loss at edges, some light foxing, otherwise all details clear and bold, fine and scarce.

Charles V (1500-1558), Holy Roman Emperor and King of Spain 1516-1556. In the New World he oversaw the Spanish colonisation of the Americas including the conquest of the Aztec and Inca Empires.
