Queen Anne, Peace of Utrecht 1713 medal in silver by J.Croker, 58mm, 75 grams, obv. laureate, draped bust of Queen left, around ANNA D:G: MAG: BRI: FR: ET. HIB: REG. rev. Britannia seated with olive branch, spear and shield, ships and farming scene in background, around COMPOSITIS VENERANTVR ARMIS, (Eimer 458 [£1100 in EF]; MI ii 399/256). Better than extremely fine with deep blue tone.
At the Treaty of Utrecht Britain made significant gains. Gibraltar was ceded by Spain to Britain, and Louis XIV of France gave Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and the Hudson Bay territory to Britain. Louis also promised to give no further support to Prince James (the Old Pretender) and the exiled Stuarts.
