Commodus, (A.D. 177-192), issue struck at Rome in A.D.184-5, AE Sestertius, obv. [M C]OMMODVS ANT ON AVG PIVS [BRIT], head laureate to right, rev. around traces omly, P M TR P X IMP VII COS IIII PP, S C across field, in exergue VICT BRIT, Victory seated to right on shields, inscribing shield set on knee, (S.1652, RIC 452, C.946). Legends weak in places particularly on the reverse, portrait fine, otherwise nearly fine and rare.

The issue relates to victory in Britain. Commodus felt that his British victory was significant he in this commemorative added Britannicus to his other titles.
