Macedon, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver drachm, (4.28 grams), Magnesia ad Maeandrum mint, issued 325-323 B..C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, PNHTR to left and facing ram's head under throne, to right ALEXANDROU, (cf.S.6730, Price 1921, BMC -, Specimen in Asia Minor hoard of 1964). Slightly off centre on obverse, otherwise good extremely fine and rare thus.
