Description
Ceylon, (Sri Lanka), Anonymous issue, Kahavanu or base gold stater, 10th-11th century A.D., (4.35, 4.30, 4.39 grams each), De Silva and Codrington type III fine style, variety described with four annulets and ball, "lotus and adahanda' (2), together with a copy with three annulets, (cf.de Silva 34, M.825-5a, Cod. 10 IIIA, p.57 Pl.III, 52). Very fine. (3)
The collector notes that the counterfeit was the only one found in Sri Lanka.
