Ceylon, (Sri Lanka), Anonymous issue, cast temple votive pieces or coinage, 1st-3rd century A.D., type described as contemporary goddess plaque in copper, obv. goddess Lakshmi standing facing between two standards, rev. assorted symbols, (cf.de Silva p.34-35, cf.M.5053-4, Cod. p.27-29, Pl.II, 20-23); Ceylon (Sri Lanka), under Dutch rule, copper two stivers Galle mint 1702 (3), G for Galle over VOC, (KM.30, cf.M.2193); one stiver, 1787, Colombo mint, C over VOC, (KM.26, cf.M.2186-7); uncertain local copper fanams, obv. central dot with radiating lines, rev. eight to ten large dots, (M.-, KM.-) (5). Fine - very fine, the Galle issues scarce. (10)
