Fieldings, Merchant and Importer, Boulia, Queensland, uniface one pound, proof currency note, not dated, numbered X11500, not signed, unwatermarked, value as 'Ã…â€Å‣1' in upper corners and 'Ã…â€Å‣ ONE POUND' lower left, no imprint, on front 'Fieldings Merchant and Importer, Boulia Queensland', below 'The Bank of New South Wales Winton, Please pay X11500 or Bearer the sum of One Pound Sterling', with counterfoil marked 'Fieldings', impressed with Queensland One Penny duty stamp, apricot central block, apricot and black on white, (Not noted by Vort-Ronald). Five folds, otherwise good very fine and extremely rare.
Another rare 'shin-plaster' issue from Northern Queensland from the same town that issued the W.S. Weigh note in 1931. Although not dated and as a proof general form, based on style and area suggests a date of the late 1920's. A similar note was sold in Spink Noble Sale 36 (lot 2730) but this was No. X8911 and dated May 16, 1928.
