Alfred Boatwright, Emu Bay, Tasmania, issued at Emu Bay, five shillings, currency note, dated 1st April 1879, (18- printed), number No.A197, no watermark, circular value tablets in upper corners, imprint of 'C. Troedel & Co. Melb', stating on front 'On Demand please pay Bearer the sum of FIVE SHILLINGS Sterling, Mr. A. Boatwright, Emu Bay or at the Bank of Australasia Latrobe', signed Alfred Boatwright, stamped in purple PAID, black on white. Minor holes, large thin at left value tablet, folds and creases, some inkmarks and toning areas, otherwise fine, extremely rare and believed unique.

A previously unknown businessman whose surviving issue appears to be this note and the next two lots. It seems probable that a ten shilling note was also issued, but is unknown to this date.
