Bank of Australasia, Sydney, one pound, uniface, dated 1 Jany 1886, (date fully printed), numbered D 58,276, signed F.A. Daniels and countersigned A. Browne, on paper, probably watermarked but uncertain of type, imprint of 'Perkins Bacon & Co. London', vignette on left of bank arms, in centre female figures portraying commerce and prosperity as a farming and mining scene, and ornamental oval tablet with ONE on upper right and ONE in multi circle tablet lower left, all within rectangular ornate spiral border inscribed 'NEW SOUTH WALES' on three sides, states below, 'I Promise to pay the Bearer on Demand One Pound at Sydney. For the Bank of Australasia', with green ONE across centre within three geometric circles, green and black on white, (Vort-Ronald, Type two (c), comments on bank and type p.57-63, similar issued note illustrated Fig. 59 [p.61]). Many folds and creases, staining on creases on back, otherwise fine and rare.
