Australian Joint Stock Bank, Brisbane, one pound, dated 1 January 1887, (date fully printed), numbered C 07496, signed for manager and countersigned both by uncertain signatures, on paper, probably watermarked but uncertain of type, imprint of 'Bradbury Wilkinson & Co. Engravers &c London', vignette in centre of arms supported by female figures portraying commerce and prosperity as a farming and shipping scene, and ornamental circular tablets with 1 in all corners, and Ã…â€Å‣ ONE in tablet lower left, all within rectangular ornate border inscribed 'QUEENSLAND' on sides and 'BRISBANE' above and below, states below, 'I Promise to pay the Bearer on Demand One Pound Sterling. For the Australian Joint Stock Bank', with orange ONE across centre with additional geometic designs, back with large central 1 and facing female heads in oval tablets with green frame, orange and blue on white/green on white, (Vort-Ronald, Type two (b) This Note described, comments on bank and type p.46-51, similar issued note, illustrated Fig. 44 [p.47]). Some folds and creases, with a few small rust spots on edge and outer frame area, otherwise nearly fine and extremely rare.
