H.M.A.S. Sydney - S.M.S.Emden, silver medal by W.Kerr, Sydney, 1914, made from a mounted Mexican eight reales of 1895 (C.1914/4); Western Australian silver medal (32mm) presented by the Citizens of that State to the crew members of the H.M.A.S. Sydney from W.A., inscribed on reverse, 'J.W. Seabrook, Signalman' (C.1914/9); Marine Society (London) Award of Merit, in silver (42mm), engraved on reverse, 'John W.Seabrook, 6th February 1913'; gilt and enamel badge of the first H.M.A.S. Sydney; souvenir programme to commemorate the arrival of the Australian Fleet, Sydney, October 4th, 1913. Five items. Very fine - good extremely fine.

Leading Signalman John William Seabrook was born in Essex, England on 8th April 1892. A member of the Royal Navy on loan to the Royal Australian Navy. Seabrook joined the H.M.A.S. Sydney on 23rd June 1913 when the ship was commissioned and served on her until November 1918. Seabrook's diary is in the Australian War Memorial, Canberra.
