David Munro (1844-1898) engineer, contractor and speculator, best remembered for his construction of the present Princes Bridge and Queens bridge (Melbourne). He was one of the colony's biggest employers. He patented many successful farm machines the most enduring being his `Victory Mill'. Munro served as President of the Chamber of Manufactures and Councillor of the national Agricultural Society. He was a close associate of Thomas Bent. His fortune was lost in the eighteen nineties crash.
