New South Wales, five shillings or holey dollar, 1813 (Mira-Noble 1807/4) struck on a Charles IIII Potosi Mint eight reales 1807 P.J. (die I/3-A/3). The countermarks extremely fine and well struck, the matrix extremely fine, overall an extremely fine holey dollar without any "dishing", as such of considerable significance being one of the finest known and very rare.
Ex R.W. Farman and Ray Jewell Collections. Originally purchased across a bank counter by a bank teller Campbell and sold to Roy Farman in the 1940's, sold by Ray Jewell to John Chapman in 1965 (ACR March 1965, p11). This coin was Ray Jewell's favourite of the 29 specimens he owned and was used for the Ray Jewell designed NAV 150th anniversary medal in 1963.
