Bushranger document, confidential letter dated 6 October 1887 from the Manager of the Union Bank of Australia Limited, Melbourne to James Kidd Esq. of the bank's Collingwood branch regarding the likelihood of a bank robbery and the need to be armed and ready. An important piece of colonial history relating to the bushranger era (25.5cm X 20cm). A series of horizontal and vertical letterfolds, fine and rare.

Transcript of the letter, "The police inform me private - / ly that another attempt will not improb - / ably be made to rob Bank, doubtless / Some Suburban Office - but can give us / no particulars as to likely locality. / Please be on the alert by day as well as / by night I believe you have a / revolver, if not, I will at once supply / you - of course I need not tell you / that the danger is not so much from / burglary in the night as from surprise by / day when possibly only our Officer is / left on the premises. Anyway your / bast care is solicited."
