Syria, Kingdom of, Antiochus I, (280-261 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (15.720 grams), Series III Group A, Seleucia on Tigris mint, issued 267-265 B.C., obv. diademed head of Antiochus I to right, rev. Apollo seated left on omphalos, holding arrow and bow, on right **BASILEWS, to left **ANTIOCOU*, to left and right monograms, (cf.S.6866, SC 379.5a, Newell ESM 159, SNG Israel (Spaer) -, BMC 10, Hunter 18). High relief, polished and worn, nearly very fine and scarce.

Ex Noble Numismatics Auction Sale 79 (lot 3477) and previously from the Patrick Cooper Collection (lot 1567 part) and obtained from Baldwins, London, June 1978. Newell notes a total of 12 tetradrachms of this type mostly in public collections.
