Bank of Brantford, five dollars, Brantford, green tint, Nov 1 1859, partially engraved date, No.368, imprint American Bank Note Company (P.S1572a); five dollars, Sault St Marie, red tint, Novr 1st 1859, engraved date, not numbered (unissued) (P.S1576, similar to S1572b). Nearly extremely fine - extremely fine. (2)

The Bank of Brantford (1857-1860s), during its relatively short period of operation, managed to circulate a considerable number of notes. Most notes were released in the United States. In Ontario they were considered suspicious and not readily acceptable.
