Major William George Ashworth served from 1907-1928. During World War I he was based in New Zealand as area officer of Wellington and later Palmerston North. He was adjutant of the 6th Manawatu Mounted Rifles. The Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long Service Medal and Decoration are very scarce to New Zealand forces. Hector Ogilvie Ashworth (28th Reinforcements, 1st Battalion Auckland Regiment) K.I.A. 25 Aug 1918. He was killed when a 5.9 shell landed in his trench. Norman Earle Ashworth served in the Wellington Mounted Rifles. Together with a group of five contemporary miniatures worn by Major Ashworth and some research.
