ATTICA, Athens, (166-57 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.77 grams), issued 168-7 B.C., (Thompson date) but probably 138-7 B.C. (revised chronology), obv. head of Athena Parthenos to right wearing triple-crested Athenian helmet, ornamented with Pegasus, rev. owl standing to right, head facing, in erect posture, on prostrate amphora, to right forepart of lion, legend across A YE, HRA ARI STOF, ARIST OK, GL below, trace of M on amphora, all within wreath, (cf.S.2555, Thompson 339h same dies). Bright, good very fine and rare.

The only other known specimen noted by Thompson with all these legends and symbols, is in the ANS collection. A similar specimen is also illustrated in Svoronos 'Athens' Plate 45 No.12.
