ITALY, Lucanaia, Thurium (Thourioi), (c.400-350 B.C.), silver distater, (15.70 grams), obv. crested helmeted head of Athena to right ornamented with figure of Scylla, rev. bull butting to right, [Q]OURIW[N] above, tunny fish in exergue, small dot above exergual line, (S.440 Ã…â€Å‣700, Noe NN&M 71 Group F, 44 [same dies, 2 only known]). Distinctive die flaw on Athena's face, otherwise good very fine, and very rare.

This piece comes from a large hoard, which contained mostly staters from South Italy, but also contained a small number of distaters of Thurium.
