MM: 'During the advance near Morcourt E of Corbie on the 8th August 1918, Pte Sloan displayed great dash and gallantry. Just before reaching the Red line his company was checked by a hostile machine gun. With great presence of mind Sloan quickly moved round to a flank and without hesitation charged the position alone although in full view of the enemy. He took the whole of the crew prisoner and single handed brought them and their gun back to our lines. Through his prompt and most courageous action his company was enabled to move forward and consolidate on its alloted objectives.'
