Valens, (A.D. 364-378), silver siliqua, Treveri mint, issued A.D. c.367-375 (2.112 grams), obv. pearl-diademed head of Valens to right, around DN VALEN S PF AVG, rev. VRBS ROMA, Roma seated to left on throne holding spear and Victory on globe, TRPS. in exergue, (S.4113, RIC 27b, RSC.109c). Dark tone, nearly extremely fine and scarce.

Ex Cornelius C. Vermeule III Collection, sold in Triton III (lot 1729 part) for the benefit of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts with his ticket.
