France, Louis XIV, (1643-1715), silver ecu, 1704, uncertain mint, overstruck on 1701 Rouen mint, crown over circular shield with crossed sceptre and hand of justice type, obv. draped bust of Louis XIV to right, rev. arms in centre of eight L's and four fleur-de-lis, (KM.362/329.3, Gad.224/220, D.1322/1316). Light grey tone, weak in places as usual, very fine and rare.
