It was the official head-dress for wear by personnel of the 13.SS-Freiwillige Gebirgs Division (kroatien) (Oct 1943) renamed in May 1944 13.Waffen-Gebirgs-Division der SS 'Handschar' (kroatische Nr.1). Some mothing, otherwise very fine.

Germany, World War II, M40 double decal Police steel helmet, blue grey steel with swastika on right side and Polizei badge on left, dark brown chin strap with white metal buckle and fittings, light tan leather insert has marking at 4 o'clock in black ink stamp 58. Both decals subject to some deterioration but still very clearly discernable with overall shape ans insignia intact, ventilator holes on each side moulded with the helmet identifying the piece as the M40 pattern. Very fine.
