Syria, Kingdom of, Antiochus I, (280-261 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.454 grams), Series II Group C, Seleucia on Tigris mint, issued 270-267 B.C., obv. diademed head of Antiochus I to right, dotted border, rev. Apollo seated left on omphalos, holding arrow and bow, on right **BASILEWS, to left **ANTIOCOU*, to left and right monograms, (cf.S.6866, Newell ESM 157, SNG Spaer 291, Hunter 16). High relief, attractive dark grey tone, Very fine and scarce. $$ Newell notes a total of 8 tetradrachms of this type mostly in public collections.
