Waterloo Medal, 1815, a 1967 production by John Pinches in sterling silver (64mm) (see BHM 870), edge impressed, "WATERLOO JUNE 18 1815" and "1790", obverse, conjoined, laureate and draped busts of the four allied sovereigns, the Prince Regent, Francis II of Austria, Alexander I of Russia and Frederick William III of Prussia left, around are allegorical and mythological allusions to the Treaty of Peace resulting from the Battle of Waterloo, reverse, two equestrian figures in classical garb with the features of Wellington and Blucher being guided to the conflict by Victory and around the central figures are many figures symbolizing the battle of the giants and they are being struck down by the thunder of Jupiter above, in a John Pinches, London case; also a pair of gutta-percha castings (135mm) from the original dies by Benedetto Pistrucci, with identical details to above medal, with pages of contemporary hand written descriptions and a faded card signed by H.W.Field (Queen's Assay Master, Royal Mint), all in original black Japanned metal case.
