Claudius, (41-54 A.D.), Cistophoric tetradrachm, Ephesus issue 41-42 A.D., silver 26 mm, (11.03 g), obv. TI CLAVD CAES AVG, bare head to left, rev. DIAN EPHE, frontal view of tetrastyle temple of Diana at Ephesus, her cult statue within with fillets hanging from her wrists, polos on her head; the temple stands on a podium of four steps and has a pediment decorated with figures, (S.1739, C.30, BMC 229, RIC 119, CBN 229, RPC 2222). Grey patination, very fine or better, rare.

XIII (= 2/1 B.C.), obv. **KAISAROS SEBASTOU* around, laureate head right, rev. around ETOY**S L NIKHS*, Fortuna seated right on rocky outcropping, holding palm frond; below, half-length figure of river-god Orontes swimming right; (consular date) above; in right field **IG*, monogram and I (Caesarean Era date) above monogram. Syria, Seulucis and Pieria, Antioch ad Orontem, Nerva, (96-8 AD), silver tetradrachm (13.66g), RY 1 (96-7 AD), obv. laureate bust right, wearing aegis, **KAIS SEB AUT NEROUS*, rev. eagle standing on thunderbolt, wings spread, ETOUS NEOU IEROU*, A in right field (cf. S.948 [RY 2], Prieur 149; RPC 3476; SNG Cop 182). A pleasing portrait, boldly struck on an ovoid flan, extremely fine and rare thus, especially for year 1.
