Convict Love Token, on a George III halfpenny with obverse shaved smooth, on the obverse side is engraved a heart with leaves and flowers and around the edge is engraved, "Forget Me Not Mother 1827/J Dowdell (sic)". Fine.
John Dowdle (aka Dowdel and Dowdell), aged 21, house painter, sentenced to life in the colonies for housebreaking. He arrived at Van Diemen's Land on 28 August 1829. With research.
