ITALY, Bruttium, Caulonia (an early Achaean colony), (c.530-510 B.C.), silver stater, (7.86 g), obv. Apollo naked walking to the right, holding a laurel branch in the right hand and bearing on his left arm a small running naked figure who also carries a branch in field, to left KAY**L* and to right a stag standing right looking back, rev. similar to obverse but incuse and reversed and without legend, (S.252, SNG ANS 148, Noe 2, Basel 190, Franke-Hirmer 90.260, Kuntsfreund 72.49). Dark deep tone of good metal, extremely fine and very rare.
