ITALY, Lucania, Velia, (c.350/340-320/310 B.C.), silver nomos, stater or didrachm, (7.25 g), Period VI, Kleudoros workshop, obv. head of Athena to left, wearing crested Phrygian helmet, ornamented with female centaur, rev. lion standing to left devouring meat, A below, in exergue traces of **UELHTWN*, (cf.S.454, Williams 361 [same dies, dies of obv.185, rev.256], SNG Cop.1566 [same dies], BMC 80 [same dies]). Nearly fine, a scarce mint.
