NEW SOUTH WALES, five shillings or holey dollar, 1813, countermarked on each side in a circle surrounding a central hole (16mm) pierced through a Charles IIII Mexico City Mint eight reales 1805 T.H. (Mira-Noble 1805/22, die I/6: A/2). Well struck countermarks, extremely fine, host coin very fine or better and attractively toned bluish grey with darker highlights, weakness at 5 o'clock during manufacture, a most attractive holey dollar with a long provenance.
