NERO, (A.D. 54-68), gold aureus, Rome mint, issued A.D. 65-66, (7.238 grams), obv. laureate head of Nero to right, around NERO CAESAR AVGVSTVS, rev. around IVPPITER CVSTOS, Jupiter seated to left holding thunderbolt and sceptre, (S.1930, RIC 52, BMC 67, C.118). Attractive very fine with trace of mint bloom, rare.

The issue refers probably to Nero's deliverance from the conspiracy of C. Calpurnius Piso in A.D. 65.
