Thrace, Maroneia, (c.411/0-398/7 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (12.90 g), obv. horse rearing to left, rev. **MAR-WNI-TEW-N* vineleaf around a grape arbor of four bunches all in a linear square, all within shallow incuse square, (cf.S.1628, Schonert-Geiss 167 [obv.12/rev.12]; SNG Copenhagen -; West 60[Pl.XI] = Egger 39 (1912) Pl.5, 150 [same dies]). Extremely fine/good very fine, the second known published example and of great rarity.
Schonert-Geiss notes for this magistrate name only nine known examples and only this pair of dies have the vine leaf in the reverse legend.
