Lot 4519
Sale 95 · Important Australian & World Coins, Medals & Banknotes, The Robb Family Collection
Description
New Zealand troopers' photos, featuring four different photos of troopers competing in the Loyd Lindsay Competition, mounted on glass with annotations on back of each photo, one for lemon and ring, two for mounted tug-o-war and one for Otago Hussars. Very fine.
Note the correct spelling of Loyd not Lloyd as is often mistakenly used. The Loyd Lindsay Competition was introduced by Colonel Sir Robert James Loyd-Lindsay, Baron of Wantage of Lockinge. This competition was also introduced in Australia in 1873.
