QUEEN VICTORIA, (1837 - 1901), Diamond Jubilee medal. 1897. Silver. 55.7mm diameter. This was the official medal by T.Brock to commemorate the 60th year of the Queen's reign. Obverse: Old veiled portrait of the Queen with legend: VICTORIA ANNVM REGNI SEXAGESIMVM FELICITER CLAVDIT XX IVN MDCCCXCVIII. The reverse has young head of Queen and the inscription LONGITVDO DIERVM IN DEXTERA EIVS ET IN SINISTRA GLORIA. It is unusual to find as perfectly preserved an example as this. The medal has beautiful golden grey-toning over slightly matt original surfaces, (BHM 3506, Eimer 1817). It comes in an unblemished gold stamped red original box, toned, good extremely fine.
