ITALY, Lucanaia, Velia, (c. 350-340 B.C.), silver stater or didrachm, (7.365 grams), Period VI, obv. helmeted head of Athena to left, wearing crested Phrygian helmet, ornamented with centaur, reversed K,C monogram behind, rev. lion standing to left, devouring piece of meat between fore-paws, traces of UELHTWN in exergue, F below lion, (cf. S.456, Williams 352 (same dies), SNG Munich 870). Good very fine/good fine, and a rare die combination.

Williams notes only 4 known specimens from this die combination.
