ITALY, Lucanaia, Velia, (c. 305/4-293/290 B.C.), silver stater or didrachm, (7.49 grams), Period VII, obv. crested helmeted head of Athena to right ornamented with griffin, F behind, rev. lion walking to right, F I above wheat sheaf between, [U]ELHTWN in exergue, P below lion, (cf. S.460, Williams 474 [same dies]). Very fine, and a rare die combination.

Williams notes only 7 known specimens from this die combination.
