Iulius Herac(lanus), (7.640 grams), obv. bare head of Augustus to right, traces of AVGVSTVS upwards to right, [CORINT] downwards to right, rev. P AEBVT SP F/C IVLIO/ HERAC /II VIR QVIN/ ITER, (S.38, BMC 492 [same dies], SNG Cop. 209, Amandry Group XIIc, obv. 3, rev. cI (This Coin), Lanz BCD Sale 105, lot 343). Portraits fine, weak legends, very rare.

Ex BCD Collection [from duplicates] and purchased from Spink & Son, London, by (M.A.), November 1977 (œ26). Lot includes Spink and other tickets and photographs. This example including this piece comes from one of only four known from this set of dies. Amandry records 48 examples from all dies of this type in his standard reference Michael Amandry 'Le Monnayage des Duovirs Corinthiens', Paris 1988, most of which are in public collections.
