MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver one fifth tetradrachm, (3.32 grams), Babylon mint, issued 317-311 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right, with lion skin, rev. vertical club on left, next to bow case on right, monogram MTP in wreath in left field, M to right, (cf.S.6738 (obol); Price 3743, A.Spaer, Israel Num. Journal 5, (1981) pps 1-3 & Plate 1 on this coin type). Some surface corrosion, otherwise very fine and extremely rare.

The lot includes photocopies of Spaer's paper cited above.
