MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver drachm, (4.37 grams), Magnesia in Maeandrum mint, issued 319-305 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right, with lion skin, rev. Zeus seated to left, eagle in outstretched hand, buckle to left, SO monogram, AT monogram under throne, trace of o to right, also ALEXANDPO[U] to right, (cf.S.6730; Price 1971, M.-, BMC -). Toned, attractively centred obverse, nearly extremely fine.
