SICILY, Syracuse, (317-289 B.C.), silver stater, (6.84 grams), obv. head of Athena to left wearing plain Corinthian helmet, rev. Pegasos flying to left, triskeles below, (S.976; SNG Lloyd 1514, BMC 11 [p.99]). Dark tone, good very fine and a scarce type.

Ex. Christie, Manson & Woods Ltd Feb. 12, 1974 (lot 16 illustrated), where it is described as being from Anactorium, Arcanania!
