ITALY, Lucania, Metapontum, (c.330 B.C.), silver stater, (7.87 grams), obv. bearded head of Leukippos to right wearing plain Corinthian helmet, LEYK[IPPOS] to right, dog to left behind, rev. ear of corn, MET[A] to left, AMI to right, leaf with dove above, (S.415; SNG Ash. 735; SNG Munich 983-4; BMC 79, Johnston NN&M 164 Series B3). Some porosity, toned, good very fine and a scarce type.
