DUPONDIUS (STRUCK 41-50 A.D.) Obv. Bare head right Rev. CERES AVGVSTA SC Ceres veiled and draped, seated left holding corn ears and torch (RIC 94;C.1;Sear 636). Very fine.
The reverse refers to Claudius' well documented concern for the imperially directed corn supply, which led him to begin the modernization of the port of Ostia, subsequenty completed by Nero and commemorated by his famous harbour view sestertius.
