Islamic, Artuqids of Mardin, Najm al-Din Alpi, (A.H. 547-572) (A.D. 1152-1176), copper dirham, pictorial type, no mint or date, obv. facing male heads (Gemini), rev. facing female head (Virgo), (A.1827.5, S/S 30, BMC 383); another, copper dirham, no mint or date, obv. two diademed male busts in profile facing each other, rev. Virgin on right, Byzantine emperor on left, (A.1827.3, S/S 28, BMC 272-4); another of Husam al-Din Timurtash, (A.H. 516-547) (A.D. 1122-1152), obv. bust right, rev. three line legend, (A.1826.2, S/S 25, BMC -); another of Nasir al-din Artuq Arslan (A.H. 597-637) (A.D. 1201-1239), issued year 626, obv. figure on leopard to left, rev. four lined legend, (A.1830.X, S/S 45, BMC 462).
