Severus Alexander, (A.D.222-235), silver denarius, issued 228, Rome mint, (2.640 grams), obv. laureate bust to right, draped, around IMP C M AVR SEV ALEXAND AVG, rev. P M TR P VII COS II P P, emperor to left, sacrificing at altar, holding patera, (cf.S.2224, RIC 70, C.325). Some surface deposit on reverse, otherwise extremely fine.
