Sicily, Syracuse, (c.474-450 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.82 grams), obv. slow quadriga driven to right by male charioteer, Nike flying right crowning horses, pistrix (sea-serpent) in exergue, rev. **SURAKOSION before around, head of Artemis-Arethusa to right, hair in sphendone under a diadem band, four dolphins around, (cf.S.931 [£850], Boehringer 516 [obverse die V271, reverse die R367], SNG ANS 165 [same dies], BMC 83 [same dies]). Dark stain at base of reverse, otherwise very fine and very scarce.

Boehringer notes 23 specimens from these dies, only a few in private collections.
